Before starting, if you are still clueless about how her skills work, you can check out this guide here for a quick but detailed breakdown of her skills: Layla Quick TL;DR Support/Enabler Build Guide

Best Artifacts for Layla in Genshin Impact

There are a few good options for Layla in Genshin Impact in terms of artifacts. Ultimately, the top artifacts can be seen below:

  1. 4-Piece of Tenacity of the Millelith
  2. 4-Piece of Noblesse Oblige
  3. 4-Piece of Instructor’s Brooch

Why Tenacity of the Millelith?

Now, the Millelith artifact is at the top of the list because of myriad reasons. First of all, it’s because this set can provide an HP boost to Layla. Next is because this artifact is best for off-field support that can still trigger Elemental Skill, which is exactly what Layla can do.

With the 4-piece set, she can provide 20% ATK for ally while increasing her own shield strength by 30% for 3 seconds. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5 seconds, and her Night Stars from the Curtain of Slumber shield can help trigger it. This artifact set is perfect for Layla, especially for those who want to build her as a shielder.

Why Noblesse Oblige?

If the Millelith artifact depends on Layla’s Elemental Skill, then the Noblesse Oblige artifact depends on her Elemental Burst. Not only does Layla have an extremely low cost of energy (40 Energy only) required to unleash the Burst, but she also has a 100% uptime of the said skill (The duration of the skill and the cooldown is both 12 seconds).

With this artifact, not only does she can increase her Burst damage, but she can also provide 20% ATK for all party members for 12 seconds. If Layla has more than sufficient Energy Recharge, she can easily spam Elemental Burst and proc the 4-piece bonus.

Why Instructor’s Brooch?

The last most suitable artifact for Layla would be Instructor’s Brooch, but this is mostly recommended for new players with limited 5-star artifact sets. In addition, you should only equip this set if your team prefers Elemental Mastery buffs over ATK% bonuses in Tenacity of the Millelith and Noblesse Oblige.

Main and Sub-Stat

Before we move to the weapons, the main and sub-stat for Layla are also important when you are choosing the artifacts. For the main stats, you can focus on the following:

SandsGobletCirclet
HP%HP%HP%

Yes, you are reading it right, full HP is more than enough for Layla. Not only it can increase her shield durability, but her Elemental Skill and Burst also scale off her Max HP, making it the best main stat for Layla. However, if you want the more unique option, you can opt to build her with HP% > Cryo DMG > Crit Rate/DMG.

Meanwhile, for the Sub-Stat, you can pray to gain the following when upgrading the artifacts: Crit Rate/DMG > HP% > Energy Recharge.

Best Weapons for Layla in Genshin Impact

Now that we’ve gone over her artifacts, you can safely choose the most suitable weapons for Layla in Genshin Impact. Since she is the few Cryo supporting character with off-field skill, not many swords suit her except the following:

  1. Favonius Sword
  2. Key of Khaj-Nisut
  3. Primordial Jade Cutter
  4. Freedom-Sworn
  5. Sacrificial Sword

The weapons above are ranked by their usability. You might be wondering why a 4-star weapon is ranked first, so let’s get to the explanation.

Why Favonius Sword?

It is an undeniable truth that Favonius Sword suit any supporting character regardless of their elements, and Layla is not an exception for this weapon. First of all, it is F2P-friendly, and most if not all Genshin Impact players would already have it if they completed Mondstadt Archon Quest.

The most solid reason this weapon is good for Layla is because of the high Energy Recharge and the number of Elemental Particles generated she can provide for the whole team. It is a handy passive skill that can help you charge your DPS once Layla is switched out of the field. The only downside is you need a decent amount of Crit Rate on her.

Why Key of Khaj-Nisut?

The best option after Favonius Sword is the almighty Key of Khaj-Nisut, with the perfect secondary stat and passive skill for Layla. With such a high HP bonus, this will definitely help increase the strength of her shield. It will also provide an Elemental Mastery buff for the team, depending on her Max HP (For example, a 30K HP Layla is going to give 60 EM to the team).

Why Primordial Jade Cutter?

Another decent 5-star would Primordial Jade Cutter with yet another HP boosts from the passive skill. The Crit Rate bonus from the sword may also help a little bit with her damage, but the ATK bonus is not very well used for Layla.

Why Freedom-Sworn?

Speaking of not very well-used, Freedom-Sworn is another example of a 5-star sword that is good on Layla in terms of providing supporting buffs for the team (16% Normal, Charged, Plunging DMG and 20% ATK) but lacks the bonuses to support herself as there is no Energy Recharge or HP buff anywhere.

Why Sacrificial Sword?

The last suitable weapon for Layla in Genshin Impact would be a Sacrificial Sword. It is an okay option for her because of the Energy Recharge sub-stat. But keep in mind that you can’t take advantage of the passive skill unless the Night Star hits the enemy (Not when creating the Curtain of Slumber shield).

That’s the end of this guide where you learn more about Layla’s artifact and weapon options in Genshin Impact. While she is not a game-changing character, she is a great addition to the team that can take advantage of her.

  1. Favonius and sacrificial sword passives won’t work when Layla is off field so they are only stat sticks, but with 40 energy cost she doesn’t even need the ER from them. Best 4* sword would be Festering Desire or something with high ATK since we don’t have a 4* HP sword yet. All the 5* options listed above are better than Favonius in this case, maybe even sac is better, especially since you might have low crit rate on your full HP Layla so you won’t be getting those sweet energy particles anyway.

    • They are stat sticks fr. Also, those two are for Layla’s ER so she can proc her Burst faster, even if she only needs 40 energy, if she has low ER, it will be tough to charge her particle then, especially if she will stay off-field most of the time and if we focus on HP artifacts. Layla does not benefit from ATK, and the passive skill from Festering Desire does make her Skill damage a bit stronger, but won’t make her shield tougher so while it’s not a bad choice, I prefer to include one that can either increase her shield durability or ER. Thanks for giving out your opinion! It’s nice to read what others think of her.
