Eight Locales Over Mountains and Seas Journey 1 Guide

Eight Locales over Mountains and Seas is a new event that was introduced in version 2.4 of Genshin Impact. During this event, travellers will have to accompany the tanuki Kichiboushi as he travels out of Inazuma to see the world. The premise of the event is easy and once you get started, you’ll be finished in no time.

So, let’s get into what tasks are expected of you on the first day.

Prerequisites

To access this event, Travellers need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be at Adventure Rank 30 or above
  • Comeplete Ritou Escape Plan
  • Finish Archon Quest: Chapter II: Act1: The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia
  • Finish the sub-quest Tanuki Bayashi in the Forest which is a part of the world quest Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual

Staring the Event

To start the event, teleport to Chinju Forest in Inazuma and make your way to Ioroi‘s shrine. When you first arrive there, Ioroi will be a bit scared of you as he does not like humans. But soon enough, he’ll recognize you and name you ‘Yellow Fur’ whereas Paimon will be called ‘White Fur’.

He will then go on to talk about the time when he wasn’t petrified and travelled the world. He saw many views but now, he only gets to know about things through his tanuki. Saying this, he will request that you accompany the tanuki Kichiboushi in his travels. Accept the request and then go find Kichiboushi. He will remember you as the person who played hide and seek with him during the Tanuki Bayashi in the Forest quest.

Once you talk to Ioroi again, you can get started on your journey.

The First Location

The first location that you will be visiting with Kichiboushi is Dragonspine. As Ioroi speaks of his travels, this was one of the places he came upon. Though he doesn’t quite remember the name.

Once there, Kichiboushi will state Dragonspine is cold but fun. Soon enough, he’ll want to head out in search of treasure. And from here on, you’ll begin a game. Kichiboushi in very tanuki fashion will dance and disappear, only to appear in another location. All you have to do is follow him. During the first part of the game, he will stop by a fire and turn into a torch.

All you have to do here is light up the torch and Kichiboushi will appear before you. He will then go across the cliff and onto the other side. Glide and follow after him. When you reach the location, he’ll be nowhere in sight. But don’t worry, all he has done is shapeshift once again.

Find the little ice block next to the torch and melt it. Kichiboushi will return. From here, you can continue your journey.

Return of the Boar King

If you haven’t been to Dragonspine in a while, you may not notice but the area you’re roaming around in is the Boar King’s home. And while you may not have harmed any of his frozen boars, he will attack. There’s no way to outrun this fight so you’ll have to fight.

The boar king has three kinds of attacks. The first is when he charges at you at great speed, similar to normal boars when they encounter you. During the second attack, he, along with many smaller boars, will throw snow at you. If you don’t dodge, your screen will be covered and you won’t be able to see. Finally, in the last attack, the boar king has a rage state where he starts jumping up and down. When he does that, snow will begin to fall on you in a large AOE. Dodge the red circles forming on the ground or bring along a strong shielder like Zhongli or Noelle to tank the damage.

Once the boar king is defeated, the last thing you have to do is take a picture of Kichiboushi. The game will tell you where to stand and all you have to do is press enter.

Now return to Ioroi and collect your rewards.

Rewards

For finishing the first part of the event, Eight Locales Over Mountains and Seas you’ll receive 10,000 Mora and 4 Adventurer’s Experience.

After finishing the first journey Snowswept Fairytale you’ll receive 30 Primogems, 20,000 Mora, 2 Guide to Freedom, 3 Chains of the Dandelion Gladiator and 2 Hero’s Wit.
