Genshin Impact 3.1 Special Program Livestream Overview – Nilou Upcoming Hydro Character
Genshin Impact version 3.0 brings forth a lot of things, a whole new map (that is very ethereal!), new elemental reactions, enemies, and of course, the new characters as well! This just means that we get to see fresh faces, weapons and their unique abilities.

One of these characters is Nilou, an upcoming 5-star female character from Sumeru. Nilou’s weapon of choice is a sword and she controls the vision of Hydro. In the game, she’s a beautiful dancer whose movements are so graceful and fluid that you can’t help but be captivated when she stands on a stage adorned with pretty flowers in the Zubayr Theater.
“When the performance comes to an end, the audience is brought back to reality, often in a trance….
The girl dancing on stage is so beautiful, she looks straight out of a fairy tale.”
Aside from this, Nilou is the kind of girl who keeps her head held high even when her craft of doing arts and dancing is shunned away by the sages of Akademiya. Deviating from the majority of the nation whose wisdom and knowledge are their main ideals, Nilou continues doing what she loves and is never ashamed of it. Truly a unique scene in stark contrast with a city that pursues intelligence.

Nilou’s Banner Livestream Announcement

Nilou’s banner was officially announced on September 16, 2022 during the 3.1 Livestream on Twitch. It is set to be released on October 14, 2022, and she’s expected to be part of version 3.1’s second phase together with the 5-star Geo character Albedo.
The first phase consists of Cyno, also an upcoming Electro Polearm 5-star character and Candace, a female 4-star who wields both a spear and a shield. Additionally, her voice actors are going to be Dani Chambers for the English dub and Kanemoto Hisako for Japanese.
Genshin Impact Nilou Skills
Nilou is described as a down-to-earth and a charming girl whose smiles are always full of warmth for the people around her. She is a performer. She is a dancer. And she’s also a fighter wielding a single-handed sword with the vision of Hydro.
Nilou’s attacks are clearly designed to capture and showcase her dancing ability, mostly agile yet still gives off a vibe of being lively and elegant at the same time.
Take note that these are just what we know about her skills from the latest stream, and doesn’t have specifics yet regarding her DMG output.
Normal Attack

Her Normal Attack called “Dance of Samser” is composed of three sword strikes, of which the last strike has her doing a graceful twirl from her heels.
Elemental Skill

On the other hand, Nilou’s Elemental Skill is called “Dance of Haftkarsvar” which deals AoE Hydro damage to enemies, and has two forms of dances depending on the way it is performed. The first one is the Sword Form and the second form is called the Whirling Steps. Both forms have their own advantages depending on your choice of playstyle and combat environment.
Upon casting her Elemental skill, if the third dance step coming from the Dance of Haftkarsvar is a Normal Attack then Sword Form will be activated converting all Normal attacks to Hydro DMG. The final strike will cast a Luminous Illusion which can be seen as a wave slash-like attack that deals Hydro DMG to the nearby enemies!
However, if on the third step of the Dance of Haftkarsvar Nilou casted her Elemental skill again, she will then enter the state of Whirling Steps. Nilou can be seen doing yet another graceful twirl, but this time dealing AoE Hydro DMG to her opponents, creating a Tranquility Aura. This aura continuously applies Wet status to the enemies within the AoE.
Elemental Burst

For her Elemental Burst, Nilou performs another dance of faraway dreams that creates a hydro attack in the form of a lotus flower dealing AoE Hydro Damage and applies a special state to her enemies. After a short period, opponents affected by the state will take Hydro DMG again.
Characters’ thoughts about Nilou
From the game, here are just some of the characters from Sumeru who knows Nilou and what they think about her so far:
Collei
She seems a little absent-minded. If she ever comes to perform around Gandharva Ville, I’m worried she’ll end up wandering off into the forest and getting lost… So I’ll have to watch out for her, as a responsible forest ranger trainee should. |
Dori
She’s a good dancer, but definitely not making the most of her time by staying in Sumeru… I mean, it’s a complete waste of her talent. If I took her on tour across all Teyvat, do you have any idea how much Mora I’d rake in? |
Should you pull for Genshin Impact Nilou?

Obviously, if you want Nilou then pull for her! It’s as simple as that. Nilou is going to be a good hydro enabler which stems from her hydro aoe that continuously applies the wet status.
With the newer elemental reactions from version 3.0, she’s going to do great in Bloom teams (Hydro characters + Dendro Characters). Bloom is triggered when hydro meets dendro resulting in the formation of what we call Dendro Cores that deal Dendro DMG upon explosion. With Nilou’s passive talent called “Golden Chalice’s Bounty state” that only activates when your entire party is composed of hydro and dendro characters, the Bloom elemental reaction is bound to be stronger. This state will be triggered after the third dance step of her elemental skill, granting all nearby characters an increase in their Elemental Mastery after being attacked by dendro.
Bountiful cores instead of Dendro cores in a normal Bloom reaction will also be produced which are way bigger and more powerful when exploding.
With that concludes what we know so far about Nilou and how she’s going to fare in-game when she releases in October. What do you think? Are you getting her in version 3.1? Let us know in the comments!

| 3.1 New Bosses Introduced

One of the new bosses introduced by 3.1 livestream is the Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network. Yup, that’s a really long name for a boss and dangerous sounding at that. It is said to be a perpetual-motion device from an ancient civilization that governs the ruin machines scattered in the desert.

Another boss introduced is called the Aeonblight Drake, a dragon-shaped combat machine that is sure to bring fears to whoever dares stand its way.

We all know Scaramouche has been so popular within the Genshin Community since the first time we met him in the version 1.1. He was an NPC -but that was then, now he’s being introduced as one of the new bosses we’re gonna have to fight and a hinted possible playable character in the near future.
| Genshin Anime

It’s official! Hoyoverse together with a collaboration with arguably one of the best Japanese animation studios Ufotable will be producing an animated version of Genshin Impact. Fans were thrilled as the 3.1 livestream also showcased a short trailer for the long-term project.
