PSA #1: A Support is that sober friend that tags along to parties and make sure your drunk butt doesn’t do anything stupid. Respect your Supports, cause they’re the reason your DPS isn’t dead and still kickin’
PSA #2: Both Kazuha’s abilities scale off ATK. He’s kind of in a weird spot because he still hits REALLY HARD as a main DPS, but his star role is being an EM/swirl machine to his team!
IMPORTANT TIP: Always spam Tap E > Hold E in most fights. You will be able to cast Tap E roughly 2x the amount you can cast Hold E in prolonged fights.
For example: let’s take a 30s encounter with a level 8 E. You can cast Tap E 5 times (1,535%), whereas you can only cast Hold E 3 times (1,251%). Hold E obviously has a much larger AoE radius than Tap E!
Hold E takes more precedent in really 2 situations only:
- At the start of the fight to group mass enemies (or basically shorter fights a.k.a. weaker enemies or just random encounters)
- Right before you use Q to maximize the damage by grouping enemies closer to the center
You can also use E mid-air, so just keep that in mind next time you’re falling to your doom
If you plunge attack (Midare Ranzan) after using either Tap E or Hold E, Kazuha will poop out a small vortex that pulls in items and smaller enemies nearby
IMPORTANT TIP: You really don’t have to pay attention to A1 passive. Essentially just if your E causes swirl with any of the 4 main elements, your plunge attack will do massive elemental damage (with the element infused)
Kazuha’s Q is a bit finicky in terms of what element it will infuse with. Some people say it’s whatever element is near the center, and others say it’s the first element you hit with the first initial Anemo swing: I am here to tell you that it’s basically random (with a small priority list).
The best way to ensure you infuse the element you want to is just try to apply it as many enemies as possible before using Q. Pyro for some reason seems to get picked the most, as in a test of 30 Q’s comparing pyro vs. other applied elements, pyro would get picked majority of the time.
This was the priority I recorded: Pyro > Hydro > Electro > Cryo (this was tested via self-applied vs. applied on enemies vs. environmental sources [grass, water on floor, etc…] vs. other sources [torches, elemental shields, etc…])
PSA #3: THIS DOES NOT BENEFIT ANEMO AND GEO! Only benefits Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo since Anemo and Geo can’t swirl itself/each other
Quick Math: Lets say you’re a Level 90/90 Kazuha (115 EM), with a Level 90/90 Iron Sting (165 EM) only. That’s just 280 EM total, meaning Kazuha will give his team 11.2% bonus elemental DMG (280 EM x .04) of the element whenever he swirls. Take into account EM main stats Sands + Circlet, and you get a whopping 26% bonus elemental DMG (654 EM x .04). He’s basically a huge buffer for Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo solo or DPS comps!
PSA #4: I cannot stress this enough — Kazuha’s E and Q will deal the infused element’s damage ALONG WITH of the Anemo damage it does!
This is important to accentuate because it basically means Kazuha can consistently proc swirl effects ALL THE TIME. Meaning his A4 passive will sustain itself via his E swirls + Q pulses (since the 5 pulses proc swirl 100% of the time), and allows Kazuha to fit perfectly into a quickswap comp! It also snapshots, so buff > Kazuha Q > swap to your DPS and go to town!
Talent Leveling Order: Q > E > Normal (honestly you can prioritize E > Q if you want, but bulk of damage comes from the 5 swirls Q provides)
WEAPON #1 (Recommended for best DPS): Freedom-Sworn
How do I get it D: ? – It’s time to roll boys (gacha)
Freedom Sworn is basically just a free stat buffer for your team. Arguably best in slot even for main DPS, since you can really push that plunging DMG with your E!
Jade-Cutter and Summit Shaper are also 2nd and 3rd best, as they’re both great stat sticks and provide a lot of ATK% — this allows you to actually run EM Sands if you’re planning on running him full support
Kazuha doesn’t really have any ER% issues at all, but Skyward Blade can be extremely helpful in reducing the # of E’s needed by roughly 1-2 to get Q. Sadly, you won’t really be able to utilize the sword’s buffs after using Q unless you’re running him main DPS 🙁
Aquila Favonia is also a great fit for those who are running him main DPS (even if you’re not, it’s great for just a bunch of base ATK and a great alternative if you don’t have Iron Sting). For whales: it’s useless once you hit C6 Kazuha though since Kazuha will have an Anemo infusement!
WEAPON #2 (Recommended for early DPS): Iron Sting
How do I get it D: ? – Forge (Prototype x1, Crystal Chunk x50, White Iron Chunk x50)
Iron Sting is the best in slot for Kazuha of the 4-stars since it provides even more EM + also boosts his E and Q damage basically for free. It’s (relatively) cheap since everyone can just craft one — and it only gets better the more you can refine it
The Black Sword is still a great option if you’re running your Kazuha more burst/sub DPS. Since EM and reactions can’t CRIT, Black Sword is sub-par when it comes to supporting though. Festering Desire is also surprisingly good for burst/sub DPS as well, and the bonus CRIT% and DMG% it provides to his E feels nice. It’s also decent since it provides ER%, so it has some value for supporting (not worth it over Iron Sting though)
If you’re running a quickswap comp, and don’t have constellations or Iron Sting, then Sacrificial Sword is actually a great fit. Even though Kazuha’s E is really low CD, the faster you can get that Q and swap off, the better it is for your overall team DPS. Plus, the additional ER% is always a nice compliment (for example my Kazuha currently can get Q off 2 Q’s with Sac Sword!)
If your main DPS or you’re running an electro/pyro focused comp, Lion’s Roar is also not a bad fit since you will always have the respective element applied practically 24/7 (but this is extremely situational!)
Two weapons that are extremely last resort for sub/burst DPS are The Alley Flash and Harbinger of Dawn (HoD). Alley Flash doesn’t provide that much EM at 90/90, only providing 50 EM, but the increase to DMG overall is very nice — downside being the moment you take ANY tick of damage it’s basically useless. HoD is practically the same: provides a decent chunk of CRIT DMG and CRIT%, except moment you get touched you lose it all…
ARTIFACT #1 (Recommended for best DPS): Viridescent Venerer
How do I get it D: ? – Valley of Remembrance Domain (AR 30 locked, 20 Resin per run)
4x VV’s boost to Swirl DMG is definitely nice, but the star is the 40% elemental RES shred. You can take 2x Glad + 2x Venerer if you’re trying to run him main DPS OR run 2x Noblesse + 2x Venerer for burst DPS.
However if your main goal is to have Kazuha serve as an EM mule and buff his team: just run 4x VV
ARTIFACT #2 (Recommended for early DPS): Instructors
How do I get it D: ? – Any World Boss (40-60 Resin per run) or you can steal some chests
Alternatively, you can also just mix 2x Instructor + 2x Exile to get a bit more assistance getting Q faster. Albeit, early levels I highly recommend 4x Instructor as 200 EM is nothing to scoff at, and will help tremendously with early game content (even upwards to Floor 8)
|ATK% or EM||Anemo DMG% or EM||CRIT DMG%/CRIT% or EM|
PSA #5: For SUPPORT run EM/EM/EM. You just want to really juice that A4 passive + make your swirls hit hard AF. For everything else (burst/sub DPS), run ATK%/Anemo DMG%/CRIT values!
Substats: EM > ER% > ATK% > CRIT DMG/CRIT%
