Misty Dungeon: Realm of Sand Event Guide

A new event is now available with 420 Primogems as rewards! This guide will help you understand what you need to do and explanation for each trial in Genshin Impact.

In a forbidden place warded by dust and sand, mysterious foes have assembled lines of fortifications to stop your coming. Assemble a team, punch through the defenses, and seize the treasures they protect!

Gameplay Overview

  • The Misty Dungeon: Realm of Sand event will start in Genshin Impact from December 9 at 10:00 AM (UTC+8) until December 19. You have 10 days to complete all the trials and claim the rewards. If you want to participate in the event, you must be above Adventure Rank 20.
  • There are a total of 7 trials with different themes in the event. 2 new trials will be unlocked on the first and third days after the event starts, and 3 new trials will open on the fifth day. In other words,
    • December 9: Howling Trial and Stormwood Trial
    • December 11: Attrition Trial and Mist Trial
    • December 13: Sprouting Trial, Might Trial, and Determination Trial
  • The character lineup you can select for each trial is different, and you can use the Trial Characters or your own characters to take part in the trials. If you have the trial character, the said trial character in the trial will adopt the Constellation levels of the character you actually own.

Gameplay Detail

1. Select a Trial

To unlock the event, you must reach Adventure Rank 20 or above. Then, the event will be unlocked for you to enjoy. There is no fixed location for this event in Teyvat, all you need to do is open the Event page and go to Misty Dungeon: Realm of Sand Event.

There are a total of 7 Trial themes to choose from. Each trial has different Ley Line disorders and monsters that will be found in different trial themes.

Day 1 â–¸ Howling Trial & Stormwood Trial Unlocked
Day 3 â–¸ Attrition Trial & Mist Trial Unlocked
Day 5 â–¸ Sprouting, Might, & Determination Trials Unlocked

2. Create your team

For every trial, you can only use certain characters. You can either use your own character or trial characters given that have a fixed level of 80, artifacts, weapons, and level 8 for all Talents. Or combine both trial characters and your own!

Choose the right characters that will help you in completing the Challenge Objective, as well as the Ley Line Disorders. This will make the fight a lot easier for you.

C0 is the default Trial Characters’ constellation. If you have the selected Trial Character, the mentioned trial character will adopt the Constellation levels of the character you own. You will not be able to use any of the Elemental Resonance during the trial.

3. Activate Ancient Runes

Once you enter the dungeon, your main objective is to activate 3 Ancient Runes scattered across the map. To activate the rune, you need to complete their respective challenge (defeating enemies) within the time limit. Once the challenge is completed, the runes will direct their power to the ruin control array linked to the entrance of the Final Challenge.

You can check the map for the dungeon before entering the trial at the top right corner, but don’t worry as you can still see the map in the trial by pressing U (which will show the map, challenge target, and ley line disorder). Even so, the Ancient Runes here are easy to find because they are very near to the control array room where you start.

For easier words, the control array is in the middle room, and the 3 Ancient Runes are on the left, right, and at the back of the array room. It’s easy to maneuver you don’t even need a map. Also, remember that every trial has the same map!

4. Benediction Challenges & Mini Buff

This is a completely optional challenge where you can activate the various Benediction mechanics within the dungeon. By completing these challenges, it can revive all characters in your party, restore their HP, and strengthen Ley Line Disorder effects.

Of course, if you want to skip all Benediction Challenges is also possible. BUT, remember that you can’t consume any food or potion during the entire time you’re in the trial.

Other than Benediction, there are also mini-buffs in the dungeon that can provide small healing, movement speed, and even boost attacks. But I’m not aware of how long will it last (for attacks and speed).

5. Complete the Final Challenge

Now that the control array is fully powered up by the 3 Ancient Runes, you can use it to activate the elevator and reach the Final Challenge. It’s just the same ol’ complete the last boss fight to complete the trial.

Trials Dungeon

Howling Trial

For this trial, you need to trigger 30 Swirl reactions. So make sure to bring at least one Anemo character. Then, bring other elements like Hydro and Electro to create elemental reactions and make sure the enemies are unalive.
If you’re not good at evading, you can bring Sayu as she is the only healer for the trial (or Xingqiu to reduce the damage taken with his Rain Sword).

Stormwood Trial

For the second trial, you need to trigger 30 Spread/Aggravate reactions, which is the combination of Dendro and Electro, so make sure to bring characters with those two elements. Nahida is an overpowered Dendro character, and I think she’s alone enough as the Dendro character then add Electro characters to finish the enemies off.

Attrition Trial

The third trial requires you to trigger 20 Bloom reactions so make sure to equip at least one Dendro and one Hydro character. In addition, deploy a healer such as Barbara or Kokomi to heal your party as the Dendro Cores’ explosion also deals damage to the active character in the team.

Mist Trial

The Mist Trial challenges you to trigger 20 Vaporize Reactions in total. And let me tell you early on, the enemies during the Ancient Runes challenges are quite squishy and easily killed, so you might not be able to trigger 20 Vaporize reactions easily. But don’t worry because you can still start the Benediction Challenges to spawn more enemies and the Last Challenge. In this trial, make sure to bring at least one Pyro and Hydro character.

Sprouting Trial

The fifth trial needs you to trigger 40 Quicken/Aggravate/Bloom/Hyperbloom reactions. There are a lot of elemental reactions here, but ultimately you only need 3 elements: Dendro, Hydro, and Electro.
Since you can use trial characters, I recommend bringing Yae Miko, Nahida, Kokomi, and Fischl. With this team, you can easily trigger all the required reactions, especially with the help of off-field applicators (which are all of them).

Might Trial

By using a Charged Attack, a shockwave will unleash and inflict enemies with random elements. Now that the opponents are affected by elements, you can use Geo attacks to trigger 10 Crystallize. Using the Mono Geo team is not a problem because the shockwave will help in inflicting reactions, in addition, there are Rockfond Rifthounds that will have lower resistance against Geo once it enters the Elemental Devourer state.
But since these Rifthounds can inflict Corrosion on you, bringing Kuki Shinobu is also great because she can help you focus on spamming attacks while her Elemental Skill heals the team and removes the debuff. Noelle and Gorou can also heal the teams but the number is not that great.

Determination Trial

The last trial does not have any reactions requirement but instead asks you to defeat a total of 38 opponents. If you’re wondering, yes, you will complete this objective just by completing the three Ancient Runes and Final Challenge. You don’t have to start any Benediction challenges if you don’t want to.

For the team, I use the Hyperbloom team because it can deal damage to a big AoE area, especially with so many mobs of enemies.

Gameplay Rewards

Aside from defeating all enemies in the trial to clear the dungeon, make sure to complete the Challenge Target to get another set of rewards. Then, make sure to claim the rewards from the event page manually.

  1. 420 Primogems
  2. 2 Hero’s Wit
  3. 7 Fragments (One for each element)
  4. 12 Weapon Ascension Materials
