Sayu Character Demo Release

Genshin Impact just released a new character demo for Sayu, a much anticipated 4-star anemo claymore wielder. She was first seen during the 2.0 live stream where it was announced that she would be appearing on Yoimiya’s character banner.

Who is Sayu?

Sayu is a young ninja from Shuumatsuban, a secret organization that works under the Yashiro Commission. Since she was raised with the organization, she is extremely loyal to them. However, Sayu is most well-known for her laziness than her loyalty. While she has mastered the art of ninjutsu, most of the time she uses her abilities to slack off and take a nap instead. She believes with her whole heart that if she gets enough sleep she’ll grow taller.

As of now, Sayu is yet to appear in the main story or a side-quest. All the known information about her was released along with her character demo. In that, it was revealed that her constellation is Nyctereutes Minor. She acts as a support for her team members by dealing damage as well as healing them when needed.

Talents

Shuumatsuban Ninja Blade

Despite her tiny stature, Sayu uses a claymore as her weapon of choice and deals four consecutive strikes. From her attack animation, it is obvious that she can not only wield the claymore with ease but also with speed. Much like Kaeya, on her last strike, she seems to teleport and thus disappears from sight. However, instead of appearing behind the enemy, she seems to sprint forward instead.

During her charged attack, she spins continuously while consuming stamina over time. This is similar to claymore users like Chongyun and Razor.

Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash

During her elemental skill, Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash, Sayu curls into a ball known as the Fuufuu Windwheel and smashes into the enemy. This attack deals anemo damage. After smashing into the enemy, she also unleashes an additional attack, Fuufuu Whirlwind Kick which deals AOE anemo damage.

Sayu’s elemental skill can be used in two ways. If tapped, she’ll dash forward using Fuufuu Windwheel and cover a short distance before using Fuufuu Whirlwind Kick.

Upon being held, the duration of Sayu’s Fuufuu Windwheel is increased, lasting for about 10 seconds. During this time, Sayu basically rolls around like a Geovishap but unlike them, she can control the direction in which she goes. So instead of intimidating the enemy from a mile away while rolling, she can hit them with ease and deal anemo damage. Once she stops rolling, she uses a Fuufuu Whirlwind Kick to complete her attack.

While being held, Sayu’s elemental skill has a chance of triggering elemental absorption. While using Fuufuu Windwheel if Sayu comes in contact with any element (except Geo), she deals additional elemental damage.

Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry

Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry is Sayu’s elemental burst. When activated, Sayu summons a helper in the shape of a daruma doll (one that resembles a Tanuki) called a Muji-Muji Daruma. This helper will deal AOE anemo damage to nearby opponents. If you have a party member with less than 70% HP, the Muji-Muji Daruma will heal them. Only if there are no enemies left will the Daruma heal party members even if their HP isn’t below 70%.

Sayu’s healing is dependent on her attack so the more attack you stack her with, the higher her healing capabilities will be.

Sayu might be tiny but that doesn’t mean she cannot deal high damage numbers. If you do decide to roll for her, she can be a very good support character for your team. As of now, the only anemo character who can heal is Jean so if you haven’t managed to roll her, Sayu’s healing capabilities could be a good replacement for her.
