Sumeru Fishing Guide and All Spot Locations
The long wait is over! The newest region, Sumeru, is here and has brought lots of exciting stuff for Genshin Impact players to explore and learn about. Among these newest additions are the new Fishing Spots scattered all over the Dendro nation.

Similar to the past three regions currently in game which are Mondstadt, Liyue & Inazuma that we have explored and/or still exploring, Sumeru also contains locations where you can catch fishes and exchange them for various items!
Now, some players are fishing for several reasons: they just want to try and have fun, others might do it for the achievements. Because yes, you can gain achievements and primogems just by catching Medakas, Kois and Pufferfishes. But ultimately, most of us do it to obtain free weapons.

Remember when the community had to fish for days & hours just to exchange a polearm that is also the Electro archon’s one of the best free-to-play weapon options? Yup, it’s The Catch. And it’s going to be a battle between you and the fishes all over again, but this time for a free bow.
Aside from the Sumeru’s New Forgeable Weapons that were introduced, you can also get a free 4-star bow called End of The Line, and exchanging certain types of fishes is the only way to get it.
But, if you are new to the game, and seeing this by coincidence & wondering where Sumeru is or what’s Genshin Impact Fishing in general, sit back because we got you as well before we head over to the more specific course of actions.

Genshin Impact Fishing
Fishing in Genshin Impact is one of the game systems and a permanent feature which the players can enjoy all while exploring. It was released in Version 2.1. Back then, prior to the update the only way to catch fishes like the Golden and Black-Back Basses was by swimming directly in ponds and swamps in-game.
Now with a newer mechanic, players get a rod and can cast a line to a body of water to catch an array of fishes in the wild.

Note that you can only start Fishing after you unlock Serenitea Pot, which is a housing system and completing the Mondstadt World Quest called “Exploding Population”.
This can be done by talking to Katheryne about accepting a commission from the Fishing Association, and meeting an NPC called Nantuck in Cider Lake afterwards.
How to Fish in Genshin Impact
First of all, the fishing spots dotted over the region can be identified by rippling waters, and upon closer inspection, numerous kinds of fish will also start to be visible. Once the fishes in that area have been caught, the rippling effect will disappear.

As what was mentioned above, fishing is only available to players with Adventure Rank 30 or higher after completing certain quests. And through that quest, you will obtain a basic Rod and some bait. It’s basically a simple tutorial that will introduce you to this feature so make sure to not skip it out!
Also, similarly in real life, catching fishes will require you to have a bait. Here in Genshin Impact, certain types of fishes will only approach your line if you have the correct bait for them. This will be discussed further for your reference.
Other than your basic Rod, you can also obtain additional Rods with themes from different regions that will make your fish-catching life easier, and is more effective on that region where it came from. All you have to do is go to the fishing association of the region where you prefer to get your Rod and exchange fishes for them!
Now let’s start fishing.
Cast your line

Go to any location with a Fishing point and interact with it by pressing F on your keyboard or whatever keybind you have for interacting. Now, cast your line in the body of water and remember not to position or throw it directly to the fishes. That will scare them away!
Just cast it beside them and let the fishes come to your bait. You will be prompted once a fish takes your bait, and it’s gonna be your cue to click or tap the Raise Hook button.
You’ve Got a Bite

Now once you’ve got a bite, continuously hold and release your Fishing button and stay in the ideal tension zone, keeping the yellow line inside the bar. Just be attentive when reeling in your fishes because if you stay too much outside the bar then your attempt will fail, and the line will snap. Don’t worry, you just have to do it again and keep it in your sight this time!
Some players might have a hard time with this, but with enough patience you will surely get the hang of it! Keep fishing, traveler!
Fish Spawn Rate
If you’re speedrunning the fish-catching experience for a certain weapon or achievements, this is going to be annoying for you. Because a location can run out of fishes, and if you happen to catch all of them at once, it will take three in-real-life days for them to come back. Changing the time in-game will also do nothing for he fishes to respawn.

But speaking of in-game clock, certain types of fishes only appear at day or night time! So, make sure to check the fishing locations for both times to obtain the fishes that you need.
You can also do Co-op and fish in another player’s world -that is if they let you in. Some strangers also don’t want other players taking their fishes so just ask from your friends or remember to ask for permission first!
For your further reference, here are the list of fishes and their corresponding baits to make it easier for you to fish (Mondstadt, Liyue & Inazuma):

With all that set, let’s now head to all the Fishing locations in the newest nation of Sumeru.
All Sumeru Fishing Locations
Currently, there are seven known fishing spots which are scattered all over Sumeru. Let’s head to each and one of them to start our fishing journey!
But before that, let’s take a visit first to the Sumeru’s Fishing Association so we can purchase and learn how to craft the Sugardew Bait. This bait is the only bait you can use to lure in the fishes that we can find in the waters of Sumeru.
Sumeru Fishing Association

We can find the Sumeru Fishing Association near Port Ormos. Just head over to the Fishes icon on your map and talk to an NPC called Loumelat.

By talking to Loumelat, it will give you access to a menu where you can purchase the Formula for Sugardew Bait and other various items such as Shaded Clarity, the free 4-star weapon called End of the Line, its refinement and of course, a Rod.

You will need a total of Three Medakas and you can exchange them for the Formula. After purchasing, head over to any Crafting benches so you can make the bait itself. It will look like this:

Crafting 1 Harra fruit and 1 Sumeru Rose will give you a total of 10 Sugardew baits. These are local specialties that can only be found in Sumeru.

The bait is based on rose dew and has been mixed with sun-dried Harra Fruit powder. It has a spicy taste and a sweet aftertaste, just like the life of a fisherman. The harvest after going through all the weather-beaten days and roaring waves is particularly gratifying.
Sugardew Bait is good for luring in Anglers and Axe Marlins.

Fishing sure is hard, especially if you’re aiming for difficult fishes like Raimei Angelfish and Peach of the Deep waves. But did you know, aside from using Rods unique in the region you are fishing, you can also bring a character like Thoma in your party to spice things up. (Actually, even if he’s not active in your party, his Talent will still take effect.)
Thoma is a four-star playable pyro character from Inazuma which has a Talent that affects Fishing. When you fish successfully in Inazuma, Thoma helps grant a 20% chance of getting a double catch! Cool, isn’t it?
Lastly, the Fishes you caught in Genshin Impact can either be cooked into a meal, displayed in your Serenitea Pot or you can use them to exchange various items such as a Free 4-star weapon like End of The Line. But that’s gonna be discussed for another guide!
That’s all you need to know for now about fishing and the locations in Sumeru!
