In Genshin Impact version 3.4, we will get another Lantern Rite festival with the same free one 4-star Liyue character of our choice. Some players -especially new ones- may have a hard time choosing which character or constellation they should get to save resources and strengthen their team.
Currently, the Fortuitous Invitation event does not have any set date yet, but we can expect it to be in the first phase as it will release alongside the main event, ‘The Exquisite Night Chimes.’
This guide will help you consider some important things first that you should consider before making a choice. But before that, know that the 4-star Liyue characters are as follows only:
1. Beidou
2. Chongyun
3. Ningguang
4. Xiangling
5. Xinyan
6. Xingqiu
7. Yanfei
8. Yaoyao (New Character)
Which is important: Character or Constellation?
Stare at your character archive and look through your Liyue character, so the first thing you need to decide is whether you need a new character among the free Liyue gang or a new constellation to unlock more potential for a character you already have.
If you are missing an important element for elemental reactions in a team, then a new character is the best course of action. But if you already have the major element and your main team is already completed, then you should aim for a constellation that can unlock more potential for said character, especially if they only need one more constellation.
Tier List for Influencing Choices
New and even veteran players may be interested in a simple tier list. A further thorough tier list can be seen on this page, but here’s the short form one.

● Xingqiu: SS-rank
One of the best support characters in-game, applying consistent Wet status to enemies. Elemental Burst creates Rainbow Bladework dealing Hydro damage off-field and allowing the active character to trigger elemental reactions.
If you don’t have Xingqiu, or your Xingqiu is in Constellation 5, getting his character card is definitely the best as it can increase his Burst’s damage and also regenerates Energy for Xingqiu, which is game-changing because easy refill for his Burst gauge.

● Xiangling: SS-rank
If Xingqiu is the best Hydro support, then Xiangling is the Pyro one (including Bennett). Her Elemental Burst is the cream of the crop among her skills as it can continuously deal Pyro damage around the active character, and deal huge damage when paired up with Melt or Vaporize reaction.
You will get her character card for free from the Spiral Abyss, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t choose her character card. Her best constellation is C4 which will increase the duration of her Elemental Burst. If you use her in your main team, you should increase her constellation until you get this one.

● Ningguang: A-rank
Ningguang is an easy-to-use damage dealer, albeit her slow Normal Attack. Both her Charged Attack and Elemental Burst deal great damage, and the latter has a low Energy cost. Her best constellation would be C6 where once Elemental Burst is used, she will gain 7 Star Jades (that can be used for her Charged Attack to deal more damage).

● Yanfei: A-rank
Yanfei can either be a shielder or a main DPS. Her best constellation is C4 as not only it is one of the best constellations in Genshin Impact, but it also transforms her from a simple character to a diverse character that can offer more for the team (especially when she’s a shielder).
This constellation can add up to 93% ATK to her team while shielding them. First, build her with 4-Noblesse Oblige (+20% ATK), equip Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers Catalyst (+48% ATK), and include another Pyro character in the team for Pyro Resonance (+25% ATK).

● Beidou: A-rank
Truthfully, Beidou is not that good on C0. She can nullify enemies’ attacks and deal huge damage with Elemental Skill, but since she uses a parry skill, not many are skilled in timing her attack- leading to many people leaving her and choosing other Electro characters that are easier to use.
But for those who know and even add her to the main team, there are a few constellations they need to be on the lookout for: C1, C2, and C6.
C1: When Stormbreaker is used: Creates a shield that absorbs up to 16% of Beidou’s Max HP for 15s. This shield absorbs Electro DMG 250% more effectively.
C2: Stormbreaker’s arc lightning can jump to 2 additional targets.
C6: During the duration of Stormbreaker, the Electro RES of surrounding opponents is decreased by 15%.

● Chongyun: A-rank
Chongyun can only shine in a limited amount of teams, but once he is in the right one, you can do a lot of things with him: infuse other melee characters with Cryo which work great for elemental reactions, and increase melee character’s Normal ATK SPD within his Elemental Skill AoE.
His most important constellation would be C1 for main DPS Chongyun, and C2 for support Chongyun.
C1: The last attack of Chongyun’s Normal Attack combo releases 3 ice blades. Each blade deals 50% of Chongyun’s ATK as Cryo DMG to all opponents in its path.
C2: Elemental Skills and Elemental Bursts cast within the Frost Field created by Spirit Blade: Chonghua’s Layered Frost have their CD time decreased by 15%.

● Yun Jin: A-rank
Yun Jin is a pure support that is only beneficial for the main DPS that focuses on Normal Attacks like Yoimiya and Kamisato Ayato. If you didn’t use Normal Attack DPS in your team, then you should avoid choosing her character card. But if you did, then she’s a great addition to the team.
Naturally, the more constellations she has, the better. In Yun Jin’s case, she can provide lots of support with 3 major constellations: C1, C2, and C6. If you get her C6, then your main DPS will definitely have a whole makeover and deals much more damage.
C1: Opening Flourish’s CD is decreased by 18%.
C2: After Cliffbreaker’s Banner is unleashed, all nearby party members’ Normal Attack DMG is increased by 15% for 12s.
C6: Characters under the effects of the Flying Cloud Flag Formation have their Normal ATK SPD increased by 12%.

● Xinyan: B-rank
Not recommended whether you don’t have her or you’re trying to increase her potential with constellations. Her shield is reliable but has a long cooldown, while her Elemental Burst is mediocre. Even if you have full constellations, she is still hard to build because although her ascension stat provides ATK, she requires DEF for a tougher shield.

● Yaoyao: Unknown
Yaoyao is the new character in Genshin Impact 3.4 and her constellations are still not yet announced when this post was released. If you’re a collector or F2P player, then getting her character card is the best option for the free option. She looks cute, and her kits look promising as a Dendro support. But you can still wait for the game to release her in-game and for other creators to theorycraft her skills so you can decide whether she’s worth it or not.
If you still struggle to choose one character, then just choose the one you like. Don’t forget that certain characters like Xiangling, Ningguang, Beidou, and Xingqiu will be featured in Paimon’s Bargain in certain months.
