In Search of Lost Time is quite a hard quest because although you know who’s the NPC you need to deal with, the quest won’t help you mark the locations of all towers you need to find to get the quest items. By the end of this quest, you can unlock one locked tower and get a Luxurious Chest from it.

➥ Teleport to New Fontaine Research Institute southwest waypoint and head southeast towards the broken bridge. You should see the quest icon on top of the bridge. Talk to Broglie to start the quest. There are 3 towers you need to find, and the quest will only appear on your Quest Book after getting near the exact location.

In Search of Lost Time: South
➥ Once you talk to Broglie, you can immediately get this sub-quest because it’s near Broglie’s location. Head south and dive into the water and you will see an underwater tower (sunken hydrology research station).
➥ You can enter the tower from the window at the side, but it won’t solve the puzzle as the Terminal is inactivated and you need to find a way to activate it. The clue for the puzzle is on top of the desk and you can interact with ‘Conch Madeleine Stop Safe Operating Procedures’ to read it.
➥ Get out of the tower through the same window and dive deeper to the bottom of the tower. You will see a crystal mechanism sealed with a Meka nearby. Defeat the Meka with the ability of the Jellyfish (also near the tower).
➥ After the crystal is unsealed, use your Jellyfish ability to throw the bomb at the crystal > swim closer to the door of the tower > detonate the bomb to activate the crystal, and open the door. This method is needed because the crystal will close the door again after a few seconds so you need to time it nicely using the bomb.
➥ Inside the door is a Terminal, and activate it to start the puzzle. There are many red lenses here so you might get confused, but the ones you need to interact with are:
1) Red lens beside the unactivated Energy Device
2) The red lens farthest from the Hydroculus (top right)
3) Ren lens under the bookshelf
4) Absorb the energy from the Energy Device beside your character
5) The only blue lens you can see
6) The blue lens on the left side of the shelf
7) Blue lens near the floating box
8) Release the energy to the unactivated Energy Device
➥ Once you complete the puzzle, the mini Hydro barrier connected to the upper level of the tower will disappear and you can reach the top by swimming there. Activate the Terminal to get the research data ‘Soaked Punched Tape.’
➥ Go back to Broglie and return the data to him. He will then mention the other 2 towers you need to go to and retrieve the data. But as I mentioned before, the quest won’t show the exact location of the tower unless you get near them first.
In Search of Lost Time: West
➥ Teleport to Mont Esus East waypoint and head northwest to the huge tower. Inside it, there are a few Fatui you need to defeat but it’s nothing serious.
➥ When climbing the stairs, there will be a barrier that prevents you from getting to the top and you will also hear ‘Voice from Upstairs.’ Only after you hear his voice will you get the quest notification.
➥ Go to the middle floor of the tower and you will see a note on top of a desk. Investigate the note and you can get a clue on how to remove the barrier.
➥ Teleport again to Mont Esus East waypoint and head northwest to the Fatui camp with Cryogunner and Pryoslinger near it. After defeating them, investigate the note on top of the box for the next clue.
➥ The clue states that you need to strike the cooking pot (using a Normal Attack from a Melee character is enough) to create a ruckus and summon the ‘Voice from Upstairs’ down from the tower to dispel the barrier from before.
➥ After defeating the Fatui, climb back to the top of the tower and you can now reach a new floor with a Stabilizer. Complete this puzzle to dispel the next floor’s barrier. Hit the device when the circle is within the blue-lit check zone to stabilize it.
➥ When you reach the top, the Terminal will automatically be activated and you can get the next research data. There is also a Precious Chest in here so don’t forget to take it. The window on this floor will also be unlocked and make it easier for you to climb the tower and get the Hydroculus on top.
In Search of Lost Time: North
➥ Teleport to the New Fontaine Research Institute waypoint and head northwest towards the huge tower. Once you enter the tower (through the side door since the front door is locked), you should hear the ‘Voice from Downstairs’ and get the quest notification.
➥ Go downstairs and activate the Terminal. Absorb the energy from the Energy Device beside your character and the barrier will disappear. You can place the energy in the Energy Device beside the cage to unlock the cage and get the treasure chest.
➥ After defeating some Fatuis downstairs, pick up the portable Energy Device and place it upstairs. Swap the Energy and insert it into the portable Device before you pick it up again and place it beside the red Terminal downstairs to open the door (This won’t progress the quest, but it unlocks the door for your future exploration).
➥ Pick up the portable Energy Device again and go higher until you see another red Terminal. Activate that Terminal to unlock the barrier on top of the tower.
➥ Before going upstairs, pick up the portable Energy Device again and place it near the Stabilizer. Complete the puzzle to unlock the last barrier and get the Previous Chest and the research data from the Terminal at the top.
In Search of the Past
➥ After you get the remaining 2 research data, you will automatically get this quest. Follow the quest navigation and meet Broglie at the New Fontaine Research Institute. It’s not over yet because you need to accompany him to the central processing station.
➥ Just follow the quest navigation and head to the tower north of Central Laboratory Ruins. Broglie will use a key to unlock the door and you can get the Luxurious Chest inside it.
➥ Go further downstairs and activate the Research Terminal to meet the last Fatui– until he runs away. Catch up to him downstairs before you’re blocked by another barrier.
➥ Use the Terminal to swap the energy from the Energy Device to the portable one on top of the shelf. You need to climb the wall to get the portable Device as you can’t climb the shelf.
➥ Place the portable Device near the red Terminal to unlock the barrier on the side and swim to the door at the bottom of the water to enter the tower from below and find Malynovskyi again.
➥ Go inside the water again and just follow the navigation to catch up with the Fatui again for the last time, complete the quest, and get the hidden achievement ‘The Forgotten Ream.’
