The Peaks and Troughs of Life Event Guide

You encounter a very nervous researcher by the shore in the southeast of Beryl Region. He seems to be testing a small prototype device…

Gameplay Overview

Event Gameplay Duration:
➥ 2023/10/23 10:00:00 – 2023/11/06 03:59:59

Eligibility:
➥ Adventure Rank 20 or above
➥ Complete the Archon Quest “Song of the Dragon and Freedom”

Event Overview:
➥ After the start of the event, a new challenge will become available each day. Each challenge will include 3 battle stages.
➥ You will be provided with two trial characters during each challenge. The more of your own characters in your party, and the higher level they are, the more Load you will have to exchange and the higher level Buff Modules you will be able to equip.
➥ During the challenge, using Pressurized Impactors will provide enormous assistance, enabling you to activate Buff Modules and release “high-pressure shockwaves.”
➥ You must charge the Pressurized Impactors before you can release high-pressure shockwaves. Charging requires increasing the pressure 3 times. Use the right timing to stop the pressure increases within proper range to successfully charge.
➥ Note that high-pressure shockwave damage is affected by the charging results.

Gameplay Tutorial

Each of the test stages for “The Peaks and Troughs of Life” consists of 3 combat rounds. A party must be prepared for each combat round. The more of your own characters you deploy and the higher their Levels, the more Load you have.
Consume Load to equip parties with Buff Modules. The same Buff Module can be used on different parties.

You can use the Pressurized Impactors within the tests to activate the Buff Modules you chose.
Activated Buff Modules will stay active for a while. Use the Pressurized Impactor again to refresh the active duration.

Activating the Pressurized Impactor will initiate 3 pressure increases. When this happens, you must stop the pressure increase at the right moment to achieve the perfect amount of pressure.

When the Pressurized Impactor’s pressure increases, the more perfect pressurizations you obtain, the greater the pressure level of the shockwave unleashed, and the greater the DMG said shockwave will deal (there are 3 levels and 3 DMG brackets in total).

The Peaks and Troughs of Life

Stage 1: Frenetic Explosive Shockwave

Monster List

Team Recommendations & Buff Modules

Score: 26080

Round 1: Mono-Pyro Team (Lyney + Flex + Bennett + Xiangling)
Buff Modules: Pyro DMG Bonus + Charged ATK

Round 2: Vaporize Team (Hu Tao + Yelan/Xingqiu + Flex + Flex)
Buff Modules: Pyro DMG Bonus + Charged ATK

Round 3: Hyperbloom Team (Neuvillette + Raiden + Kokomi + Nahida)
Buff Modules: Charged ATK + True DMG Shockwave/Crit Rate and Crit DMG

Battle Observation

➥ In Round 1, you will face 6 waves of Treasure Hoarders and a Fatui. After those 6 waves are completed, Fatui Operatives will start to spawn until the remaining times end. Use your Pressurized Impactor once or twice when fighting the Treasure Hoarders, and make sure to save at least 1 when you’re entering the phase where Fatui Operatives will appear.

➥ In Round 2, the first 6 waves consist of Electro Slimes and the Fungus, so having an Anemo CC here would be great to gather them all in one spot. But after the 6th wave, only 2 Geovishaps will appear per wave until the remaining times end, and they don’t really need to be gathered. So it’s up to you whether you want to bring an Anemo CC or not.

➥ In Round 3, you will face the Ruin mobs (Cruiser, Destroyer, and Scout) for the first 6 waves. After that, the Ruin Guard and Drake will start spawning (+1 mob) on each wave until the remaining time ends.

Stage 2: Verdant Vigor

Monster List

Team Recommendations & Buff Modules

Score: 23300

Round 1: Hyperbloom Team (Alhaitham + Kuki Shinobu + Flex + Flex)
Buff Modules: Dendro DMG + Elemental Mastery

Round 2: Quicken Team (Nahida + Raiden Shogun + Venti + Flex)
Buff Modules: Dendro DMG + Elemental Mastery

Round 3: Hyperbloom Team (Yae Miko + Xingqiu + Yaoyao/Collei/Baizhu + Flex) // Bounty Bloom Team (Nilou + Barbara + Nahida/Yaoyao + Xingqiu)
Buff Modules: Electro DMG for Hyperbloom Team // Dendro DMG for Bounty Bloom Team + Elemental Mastery

Battle Observation

➥ In Round 1, there will be Hydro Slimes in every wave of enemies. Anyway, all enemies are afflicted with Hydro here so all you have to do is trigger as many reactions as you can to take advantage of their Hydro. Anemo isn’t needed here because all enemies spawn close to each other and after you get past 6 initial waves, the enemies will start to spawn at the same location.

➥ In Round 2, you would want to have Anemo CC because these mobs spawn quite a distance from each other. The first 6 waves feature a mob of Eremites, but after that, the elite ones will start to appear (Floral, Desert, and Daythunder). Their combination can inflict Hyperbloom on you or any branch reactions (Electro, Dendro, and Hydro) from that so be careful and make sure your healer is doing their job.

➥ In Round 3, there are only 5 initial waves of mobs (Nobushi) before Kairagi starts appearing. Remember to kill the duo at the same time or the other one will recover half of their health. Bringing an Anemo CC here is beneficial to gather both Kairagi as they often use thrust attacks that make them separate from each other.

Stage 3: Blazing Battle Spirit

Monster List

Team Recommendations & Buff Modules

Score: 25140

Round 1: Mono-Pyro Team (Lyney + Bennett + Kazuha/Xiangling + Zhongli)
Buff Modules: Pyro DMG + Shield characters

Round 2: Hyperbloom Team (Neuvillette + Raiden + Kokomi + Nahida)
Buff Modules: Healed characters + Charged ATK

Round 3: Vaporize Team (Hu Tao + Yelan/Xingqiu + Flex + Flex)
Buff Modules: Pyro DMG + Shielded characters (if you bring Zhongli)

Battle Observation

➥ In Round 1, you will start by fighting 4 waves of mobs (Recon Log, Arithmetic, and Treasure Hoarders). The Treasure Hoarders are quite annoying because they often back away if you get too close, that’s why I prefer bringing Kazuha or any Anemo CC to gather them all at the same place as the Mekas. Speaking of the Meka, all of them are Ousia-type so Lyney is perfect here.

➥ In Round 2, the 4 initial waves are mobs and one of them (Nimble Harvester Mek) is fond of ramming at the player, leading it far away from other enemies. One of the reasons why Neuvillette (or any long-ranged DPS) is good here. The Meka here are Pneuma-type so you can switch the whole team to cater to your Pneuma character (Lynette and Wriothesley) if you want to bring them.

➥ In Round 3, you will start with 8 waves of Hilichurls (6 Hilichurls per wave). You might want to bring an Anemo CC if you didn’t bring Albedo + Zhongli duo like me so you can gather them more efficiently (both of them deal AoE DMG, and Yelan’s Skill can deal with remaining Hilichurls that escape the AoE). If you don’t want to use Vaporize, that’s okay, but definitely bring a Pyro character because the Lawachurl here will have a Cryo shield and you want to use the most effective element to destroy said shield.

Stage 4: Destructive High-Enthalpy Torrent

Monster List

Team Recommendations & Buff Modules

Score: 24420

Round 1: Hyperbloom Team (Neuvillette + Raiden + Kokomi + Yaoyao)
Buff Modules: Hydro DMG Bonus + Shockwave

Round 2: Bounty Bloom Team (Nilou + Nahida + Yelan + Barbara)
Buff Modules: Hydro DMG Bonus + Shockwave

Round 3: Vaporize Team (Ayato/Tartaglia + Xingqiu + Bennett + Xingqiu)
Buff Modules: Hydro DMG Bonus + Shockwave

Battle Observation

➥ In Round 1, you will face 8 initial waves of Treasure Hoarders. They will keep spawning after 1-3 Treasure Hoarders are defeated, and their locations are also far from each other so Neuvillette and his ranged attack are great here. After that, the elite enemies will start spawning (Specialist Meka and Fatui). The Meka here are Ousia-type and since they’re the elite type, you need to hit them with Pneuma 2 times before it can be paralyzed.

➥ In Round 2, the first 6 waves are full of Fungi. It’s pretty easy because they have low HP and your Bloom should be able to defeat all of them in an instant. After that, it’s elite enemies’ time. Sometimes there will be 4 enemies per wave and sometimes it will be 3. Fortunately, they all spawn near each other so Anemo CC isn’t really required and the Bounty Bloom has good AoE DMG. But if you want to focus on anything, focus on the Whopperflowers to avoid them from burrowing underground.

➥ In Round 3, there will only be Eremites enemies in the first 5 waves. All of them spawn far from each other so you can swap any character to Anemo CC if you’re having difficulty. But you won’t need them when facing the elite enemies because they appear at the same spot and near each other – at least in the same general area.

Stage 5: Merciless Glacial Ray

Monster List

Team Recommendations & Buff Modules

Score: 22360

Round 1: Melt Team (Wriothesley + Bennett + Xiangling + Venti/Kazuha)
Buff Modules: Cryo DMG + Elemental Mastery

Round 2: Bounty Bloom Team (Nilou + Nahida + Xingqiu + Barbara)
Buff Modules: Elemental Mastery + Shockwave

Round 3: Hyperbloom Team (Neuvillette + Raiden + Yaoyao + Flex)
Buff Modules: Elemental Mastery + Shockwave

Battle Observation

➥ In Round 1, you will face 7 initial waves of Hilichurls. With that many numbers of Hilichurls per wave, having an Anemo CC here is nice to gather all of them at the same time. But it won’t be too useful in the elite waves because Lawachurl can’t be gathered with the Anemo vortex. When elite waves start to appear, you should face the Lawachurl with your back against the wall because this big boss likes to charge forward. The wall can help minimize the distance that the Lawachurl can lunge into.

➥ In Round 2, the first 5 waves are mobs of Eremites and Treasure Hoarders. Just like in Round 1, there are many enemies per wave so having a CC skill may help. Although I use the Bounty Bloom team where Nilou’s talent helps increase the AoE of the Bloom’s explosion. Then, Fatui Operatives will start appearing with random elite Eremites per wave. You want to focus on the Operatives because they have higher HP than other enemies.

➥ In Round 3, you will meet 6 waves of mobs full of normal Meka and some Treasure Hoarders. The Mekas here are Pneuma-type so you can swap team to any Pneuma character (Wriothesley/Lynette) if you want. The Nimble Harvester Meka is the most annoying one because it can dash forward and break the CC, so you should focus on that one first in every wave. After that, it’s elite enemies’ time: only 1 Specialist Meka and 2 Treasure Hoarders per wave. The Specialist Meka here also likes to dash forward so you know who to focus on.
